Great Long-Distance Hiking Trails (Trekking & Pilgrimage Trails)

This is a wish-list or To-do list of very long trekking, hiking & pilgrimage trails that I either have done or plan on doing.

Canino de Santiago

Also called the Way of St James. It is a 900km (610 mile) pilgrimage (hike) from the border of France, across northern Spain, following an ancient pilgrimage route west to the cathedral at Santiago de Comopostela. See Camino post for details.

The Appalachian Trail

US trails 3,500km (2,100 miles) long through 14 states from Georgia to Maine. I have not done this yet, but Seth, my son did part and loved it. More facts.

Te Araroa

New Zealand trail 3,000km (1,800 miles) from Cape Reinga to north Bluff in the south. Not yet. More facts. More Bruce Trail Facts

The Trans Canada Trail

Now called the Great Trail. A winding network of paths, trails, waterways and roads running 23,000km (14,900 miles) across Canada. I’ve done part of the Bruce Trail section with Seth. More Trans Canada Facts. More Bruce Trail Facts.

Great Himalaya Trail

Runs 1,700km (1,000 miles) across all of Nepal through the Himalaya range. I have done parts of this before it became an official trail. See my Nepal Rara Lake trek for a sectional. More details and facts.

Route of Parks

Patagonian trail 2,800km (1,740 miles) from the city of Puerto Montt south to Cape Horn. A network of 17 National Parks. This is brand new (2018).
