The Grand Escape - Bike Adventure Series

I don’t recommend the Grand Escape events but am listing this in case you want to do it with them anyway. The organized series consists of three poorly organized rides of 6 days each. Currently Germany, Slovenia and Italy. The data and routes can be downloaded below or imported into the Outdoor Events App. You can also pay the Bike Adventure Series org 100+ euros for each of them and a logo-ed cycling cap.

My Grand Escape Tuscany Experience 🙁

So why don’t I recommend the Grand Escape Bike Adventure Series? This is my personal opinion and opinions are free, so live with it if you don’t agree. Why pay for a package that is basically a publicly available route if that is all you get for the money? Ok, you get a cap and some granola bars, but no logistical support, sloppy administration and no efforts to get the members to bond.

As an alternative, check out the Highland Adventure series for trekkers. Lots of free stuff but most important, designated daily camp spots, meal options, free beer at checkpoints, recommended starting & ending times and more. The entire experience is not about the publicly available trekking route, it’s about bonding as a group, finding new trekking buddies or meeting trekkers from the prior events you attended. It’s well worth the fee.

What is the Grand Escape from the Bike Adventure Series?

“Experience adventure cycling at its best with the Bike Adventure Series. Leave behind the daily grind and dive into a world where pressure to perform doesn’t exist. bla bla bla…”

My opinion (and experience) is that you pay real money for a route that you can put together yourself from sites like RideWithGPS or Bikmap or ViewRanger, etc. The organization doesn’t provide any logistics. But the riders do start out all together at a specific location and time. The rest is up to you.

Click on the Menu – More – then Event Packs button. Wait for the Bike Adventure Series logo epack to appear. Click it and then the download button.
