This is a simple Montemagno, Tuscany Day Hike. We start from the cell tower above the villages of Lucciano/Quarrata, both of which have bus service from Pistoia. There is a well-groomed trail at the end of the road at the upper limits of the village of Lucciano. The trail takes you up to the base of the cell tower (where there is also a road that leads down to the western valley and township of Vinci). This is the spot where we ended the Day 1 hike.
Once at the foot of the cell tower, we stay on the top of the mountain range via Tuscan trail 300 (called double zero by locals).
The trail is well marked and stays pretty much at the same altitude all day, so it’s a comfortable day-hike.
Total Cost Range of this Activity is: $
The only costs are for public transport to the trailhead and the exit point that you choose.

We stopped for snacks at the medieval Hospital of St Alluccio and then again at the lookout of Monte Pietramarina archeological site followed by lunch at a beautiful, unmarked park before Casenuova.
We ended the day with coffee in the high-end tourist fortress village of Arimino around 4 pm because there was public bus transport and because the trail from this point was mostly along a road and down out of the mountain and into the valley flatlands.
It was a lovely and easy day hike that can be done in either direction.
